The collection of any random thoughts that pop into my head, or the culmination of some damn thing that happened at the Nelson house, because you all know there is never a dull freaking moment in our lives!

Please Help Me
My Dad, my hero.
You may have read my post in November regarding the Walk to D'Feet ALS. Well, the walk is 2 weeks from tomorrow, and I've only reached 53% of my goal!
I am walking in memory of my Dad, George Studley, who lost his battle with ALS in 2005. I walk each year to remember Dad, and to raise funds in support of nationally driven cutting-edge ALS research and community-based patient services programs. This is the eighth year of the Walk to D'Feet ALS, and in that time they have raised $50 million!
If you can donate, I would appreciate it. Even $10 would help. You can click here to donate.
If you already have donated, I'd like to thank you, once again, for helping me to reach my goal.

Walk to D'Feet ALS
Hey, everyone. On January 19th, 2008, I am once again participating in the Walk to D'Feet ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). For those of you that are not familiar with this disease, I envy you. Here is a link to get some quick info on this debilitating and deadly disease.
My father, George Studley lost his battle with ALS on January 18, 2005, just 3 short days after I completed that year's walk. He never saw the team shirts we got made up. He never saw the team shirt that our whole team signed for him. (It got there the day after he passed away.) He knew of my efforts in the walk, and appreciated them. My team name is Dad's Desert Angels, and Dad loved the name.
I think my Mom and my sisters will agree, Dad was always larger than life to us. And to watch him waste away with this terrible disease just shattered us.
I participate in this walk for many reasons, but the top two are:
1. It is my wish to help eradicate this disease so other families will not have to endure what we all went through.
2. I still feel a bit guilty for living nearly 3,000 miles away when Dad got sick. I'm thankful that I got to see him on Thanksgiving in 2004.
Please follow this link to my personal walk page, and donate if you can. I appreciate any help I can receive in getting to my personal goal.
Thank you.

ALS Awareness Month
You probably don't know that May is ALS Awareness Month. I didn't. I would never have known if ALS hadn't affected my family so profoundly. For those of you who do not know: my Dad had ALS. He passed away in January of 2005 after being diagnosed in October of 2004.
If you're taking the time to read this blog, please take a moment to visit http://www.alsa.org. Tell a friend about it. Get the word out. Find your local chapter and get involved. My father's doctor told him in 2004 that we are at least 25 years away from a cure. Maybe if we get the word out, and get people to recognize this horrible disease, it won't take 25 years.
