Kids Say The Darndest Things...

Before I begin my post, I wanted to mention that we lost a sister rider this weekend. PaulR, retired SAA of the Medieval Madens M/C was hit while on her bike Thursday night. Her bike broke in half, and she lost her battle with serious injuries on Saturday. Please keep her family in your thoughts. Now the main reason for my post. Saturday evening, our daughter Vicki went for her first ride with a group. Just four bikes, but a big deal for an 11-year-old, right? Well, she rode with Daddy, and I rode with our friend Cowboy. Daddy asked her how she liked it so far, riding in a group. "It's ok," was all he got. So, Daddy wicked on the throttle a bit and passed some cages (safely) to give her a thrill. He then said, "How did you like that?" Vicki's response, "It was ok, but you should take me to California and split lanes!" Then she asked how old she needed to be to get her motorcycle endorsement. My answer: "39." WTF???!!! We are in trouble!

Thanks to Tipher for taking the pics, as I forgot my camera, yet again! :)

Already asking about splitting lanes?! Yep, you're in trouble.

I love riding with one of my girls on the back. When my oldest comes home from Florida to visit, one of the first things out of her mouth is, "When are going riding?!"

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of PaulR.

Yeah, Ry is already asking when he can ride too! Scarey!
BTW...speaking of splitting lanes, I did it for the first time the other day. :)
I love that look on Vicki's face in the last pic!

That sucks regarding PaulR. My thoughts are there with all.

B.B. said more than once how much she loved Vicki when we got back. Yeah, I would say you were in trouble, not for the fact that she wants to lane split...only because she wants to go to CA. Bring her over here and let uncle Dave explain to her why Arizona is so cool

So very sorry about your friend PaulR. You are all in my thoughts!

I do think you are in serious trouble with Vicki and the whole motorcycle thing. I was about her age when it all began for me! :)

In a few years when Vicki is 16..
And our friends come to visit...They won't have to ask why all the bikes in the shop are CHAINED to the floor.

Ms. Ann: Please pass along my deep condolences to PaulR's family and friends. Prayers are sent with warmth and love.

Vicki sounds like she is a scooter tramp already, hell she's already to the look going on for her. The nut doesn't fall too far from the tree you know :)

My daughter was eyeballing the Shovel yesterday. She likes it because it sits low. She tried kicking it, nope. Can’t ride it ‘till you can kick it. (Yep, it’s running).

Maybe that’s the answer to your problem, have nothing but kickers in the garage.

I’ll trade lane splitting for no skid-lid any day.

I remember my first ride on the back of a road bike. It was with my Uncle whom I spent the summer with in Michigan. We left very early one morning before light and I got so cold I could not stop trembling. We stopped after two hours or so on the road and drank coffee at a truck stop and smoked a few cigarettes to warm up. I was thirteen at the time. I was ready to go again in about twenty minutes.

Sorry to learn about your friend there.

Yeah, Go out to Cali to split lanes... Mmm hmmm...
And while you're at it you can put on bright red leather & make a few laps around the bull coral! Doesn't she know our highways are full of CRAZY people lol
When we split lanes it's only marginally safer than being the last one in line in the traffic jam... Not to mention, with the real estate here at such a premium the lanes are barely big enough for some of the cars (Like the Governors Hummer)
Of Course, I'm just teasing. We'd love to have ya'all come out here. I'd be delighted to have someone to ride with.
Thanks for sharing
