Bikers Against Child Abuse

For those of you who don't normally read my hubby's blog, I thought I would share this with you.
He wrote a very moving story a few days ago that pretty much explains what BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) is here for. If you don't know anything about this organization, you can check out the national website here.
Big D's story can be found here. It is today's recommended reading. I guarantee that it's not what you're expecting. Please be kind and leave him a comment. :0)
I know I'm biased, but it is incredible. In fact, it was so good, I sent a link to the board members of the Maricopa County Chapter of BACA (our local chapter), and they liked it so much that they asked if they could send it out to everyone in the chapter. It really does encompass what BACA is all about.
We have been supporting this chapter locally since March. We've been to their monthly meetings, a few of their charity rides, and a few social events. I must say that this is an exceptional group of people. They come from all walks of life and are together for one reason: the children.
Kudos to Big D, and kudos to BACA. It's a shame that the need for this organization exists, but since it does, I'm glad to be associated with it.

I'm with Mike.

Also.... Kinda wierd, but this is kind of like a news reporter on television telling the news about a tragic event while smiling for the camera. Congrats. Big D. on having the chapter spread the word about your story. It rocked, but the fact that it had to be said sucks.

I'm honored to know both of you.

I've never said that before about anyone I haven't met face to face. It will be one of my prouder days when we finally ride together.

Well, you may be biased, but we all agree with you anyway. :) Your hubs is very talented. And while you're handing out Kudos...give some to yourself for supporting such a great orginaztion and doing your part to spread the word.

This is part of the reason I am not involved in law enforcement. I have no tolerance for this whatsoever. I can't stay objective about it. I would just as soon bash your face in than to watch you abuse a kid. (sorry, just the truth as ugly as it might be.) I don't even care if it's your kid. If I see someone going beyond discipline I'll risk being taken away. I get angry just thinking about it. I'm very tolerant, but not about this. It's just one of my triggers.

Big D is very talented. I laughed at his comment on my biker blogs post because I have a hearing problem also. I don't hear what most people are saying so I have to make out the sounds until words come to my head that make sense or jive with the topic of conversation. I died laughing because that is me completely.

I am really pleased that his talent to write has been recognized beyond the blogosphere. Anyone can write but it takes something special and beyond the norm to come up with the creative and soulfull words that incites the emotional response that his writing does.

I can also say that he is truly a lucky man to have a woman who is behind him and so supportive. Thanks for the post and thanks for caring.

I'm jumping on this band wagon. You are very lucky to have such a wonderful talented hubby, who (I can tell by what he writes)cherishes you. When you have that, you can smile and say life is good!

BACA rocks! Down with abusive assholes!

I don't know of any BACA chapters around here, but this Sunday RC and I are participating in Rally for RAACE (race against abuse of children everywhere) www.raace.org

Stats indicate that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. Numbers like that are appalling. the first step in recovery is admitting that we have a problem. We all need to take our blinders off, and recognize the expanse of this problem. Maybe then we will start to make some headway in stopping it.

Mike: Thanks. Awareness is key.

Mr M: I agree...it does suck that it's necessary.

Joker: Thanks...can't wait to meet you when we're back east!

BB: Thanks!

Kim: Thanks...spread the word!

Dave: I agree...I can't stand seeing kids being abused, and it happens every day.

I think Big D is prety lucky, too. I'm glad you recognize that! :)

LadyR: Life IS good and BACA DOES rock! :)

Mrs RC: Off with the blinders is right...I wish more people could see that.

And BTW...there are 3 BACA Chapters in MD...
Anne Arundel County Chapter in Mayo, Carroll County Maryland Chapter in
Carroll, Frederick County Maryland Chapter in Frederick. I don't know if they're very active, but you should check one out!

Great story and thanks for pointing us in the direction to see it.

I also like how you put "recommended reading" instead of the Queen's "required reading"!!

Another excellent Big D story. It's too bad BACA has to exist but since Child Abuse is something that does happen it's so wonderful that there are men and women who take the time to stand up and protect children the way that they do!!!
