Car Accidents Suck

I was in a little accident on Friday morning. Some guy ran into the back of my car while I was sitting at a red light. He hit me fairly hard; hard enough to push me into the truck in front of me. I'm sore, but should be fine. The car held up remarkably well...I can only see a few scratches on it. The funny thing about it was, he hit me so hard that he actually knocked my flip-flops off of my feet!! All 3 vehicles pulled into a parking lot, and as the adrenaline rush started, I thought, "Where the hell are my flip-flops? I just had them on!" They were right under my feet! The guy that I was pushed into was an insurance agent (kind of funny), and he kept wanting to call an ambulance for me. Then the cops kept wanting to call an ambulance...I refused several times. I must have looked really bad, though, because they just kept asking me! When I called Big D to tell him I was in a wreck, but ok, he asked if I wanted him to come to the scene. I told him no, I would be home soon. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't ask him to come down. The guy that hit me was already jumpy, so this big biker guy coming to see who hit his wife's car would have totally alarmed him! At least he had car insurance...a lot of people driving in AZ do not have it. I went to the ER and got some pain meds and some Naprosyn for the swelling. I think the seat belt really did a number on my left shoulder. Other than that and a mild case of whiplash, I'll be fine. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Well I am glad to hear you are okay. I had an accident a few years ago and the air bag went off. Ouch! That hurt like hell.

Seatbelts always hurt but better than the alternative.

Whats up with flip flops to work? LOL

I'm glad it wasn't more serious, although accidents suck no matter what. Take care of yourself.

Glad to hear that you are okay, but wow that really does start your weekend off on the wrong foot. Hopefully the weekend improved.

Totally scary. Awful. I bet somehow, those flip flops saved your life. I love flip flops!!

Someone rear-ended me last week and we pulled over and she was hysterically crying. I was kinda like "ok, it wasn't that bad, why is she so upset?" ...she then tells me that she was on her way to identify her husband's body at Walter Reed. UGH. I gave her a hug and sent her on her way. I almost gave her a ride there, but given she was a complete stranger...etc.

I went to work grateful.

Maybe Ann's just like me and wears flip flops whenever possible and keeps the "work shoes" on hand to slip on upon arrival? I literally only wear my work shoes from my car to the office and back. When I go to lunch, the flip flops go on.

Glad you're relatively ok! :) Accidents suck!

Glad your ok, but keep an eye on your booty. Sometimes injuries don't show up until a few days later. Glad you were not on a bike.

A few years ago I was sitting at a stop light behind a car on my bike. I don't know why but something told me to pull into the lane next to me. Seconds after I did switched lanes, a car smashed into the rear end of the car that was in front of me before I switched lanes. Never forgot that and ever since I keep an eye on the guy behind me until they are completely stopped.

Glad you are ok, the next three day are going to be the worst. I feel bad for yah, your going to feel it. Make that dork buy you a new pair of flip-flops while your at it!

You should call a reputable local personal injury attorney and go for an initial free consultation. Depending on what the attorney says, you can decide how you want to proceed.

You were injured and it was not your fault. The sort of accident you had can cause injuries that don't always come say "hi" right away. All I'm saying is C.Y.A. just in case.

Believe me, I can't stand these sue happy types who are always looking to cash in over nothing. But, as a man who was badly hurt in an accident, I know how important a good lawyer is. If you have a problem months down the road as a result of this that keeps you out of work, or causes you ongoing medical issues, you'll be glad you sought legal advice from day one.

It's free. Don't take any chances!

Joker makes a good point. I had whiplash about 15 years ago, and I still have problems with my neck. It isn't debilitating or anything, but it's a pain, no pun intended. You never know.

When my mom got rear ended at a dead stop in charles' car a few years back and all se had was mild whiplash and and sprain in her wrist she walked away from that with all medical bills paid plus about $15,000 in settlement from the insurance company...Definately glad to hear your ok and lol bout the flip flops. You should take it easy for a few days though, she wasn't in pain til about a week later.

Wow, I'm sorry I missed this post while at Jane's. I'm so glad it wasn't worse, but yes you probably should talk with somebody..if for no reason other than said before...what if a couple months from now...

So glad it wasn't worse!

I'm sorry I am so late as to comment about your accident. I hope you are feeling better. After accidents our body just needs a lot of rest and fluids. Minor whiplash will bother you for a while without therapy so head to your Dr for a more in depth check up and keep all of your bills for the guy to pay! I was in a bad car accident in HS and settled before my medical care was finished and then I was stuck with the rest of the payments~ which sucks!
