It's My Pity Party - And You're Invited

I'm not a huge complainer. I try to look for the brighter side of things, in fact, I visit Paula's blog every day. I always try to stay positive and keep a positive attitude and outlook. It doesn't seem to be helping, though. This is week 6 of my unemployment, and to date:
  1. I have applied for open/posted positions at more than 85 companies
  2. I've had 6 interviews and been turned down for 5 jobs (still waiting on one, but not holding my breath)
  3. I still haven't received an unemployment check, and won't be for at least another 3-4 weeks (they've royally screwed up my claim)
  4. I start school next week and I need a copy of Microsoft Office for my computer...and I can't afford it (see #3)

When it rains, it pours. I got an email rejection today for one of the jobs I interviewed for a few weeks ago. It really hit me hard. I really thought I was going to get that one. This sucks.

Hope you enjoyed the pity party. Sorry, I'm usually not like this.

I am very sorry, Ann. I truly hope the one you are waiting to hear on works out. I'll try my best to post really uplifting blogs in your honor.
If you can get by with something other than Microsoft Office, I use OpenOffice. It's a free version, almost identical to Microsoft Office. It will let you open Microsoft documents/spreadsheets/etc. And let you save your new documents in Microsoft format.

No reason to apoligize! We all have to vent now and again. That's what we're all here for, to be each other's support and sounding board.
Good for you for going back to school. I'm not sure what the school situation is, but if you have an instructor that you can reach, maybe they could assist you with getting Microsoft Office.
Hang in there girl!

Kim: Thanks. I needed that. :)

Paula: I'll be checking for the uplifting posts. Thanks for telling me about open office. I've never heard of it, but I'm downloading it now. Thanks so much!

BB: Sorry...you snuck in on me. Thank you for being my sounding board. This is my very first class at U of Phoenix. I don't even know my instructor yet. I'll look into it, though. Thanks.

Ann. I am feel'in yah. Without going into the details I am somewhere in the same ballpark. I know that doesn't make sense to some people but there is a reason for it.

Email me. Big D should have it. I will see if I can score a copy of Office. Might not be the latest version but it will work.

"A'hoy matee There be storms a brew'in but there be a port for every ship with a barrel of rum await'in. Just keep the winds in yer' sail and yer' powder dry and the world will turn. Keep yer' eye on the compass and pirate's booty you shall find!" (lol, sorry...I have never been good at making people feel better.)

Big Hugs Sister! Things will turn around! 1 year ago I thought we were going to have to live in a cardboard box under a bridge but we turned it around and things aren't great but they are better! Just hold your head high and think positive thoughts...believe in yourself and things will just fall into place!!!

Good things come to those who wait! All you can do, is what you are doing. Putting yourself out there. The right one will bite, you'll see. Keep the faith girl!

Everybody is allowed their low moments and like BB said, we are all here to be your virtual support group.

Stay strong and positive, the right thing will come along.

Also, I would think that you would be able to get a cheap version of Office through the school. I know most software offers educational licenses, etc.

Umm.. I think Dave was using my name when he commented, either that or I have completely lost my mind. LOL

ahahahahahah! Ann, this is Dave. B.B. used my computer and forgot to log out and I just posted under her name on accident. We are one so I suppose it doesn't make any difference. I just don't want you thinking she is as f'ed up as I am...that's all.

Dave, that's a riot! Me and Big D have done that too! LOL!

I have your email. I think you have mine, too, don't you?

I still believe... Everything happens for a reason. It might suck really bad in the meantime, but eventually the path straightens out and we keep on going!

I'm so sorry... this situation sucks.

I have a spare copy of Office 2007 from when my boss and I skipped work to go to their conference. Email me your address, if you want it :)

I can relate and sympathize with your situation. It's important to say positive though. Try not to allow doubt to creep in to your consciousness and you'll be fine in the long-term. In a way difficult life situations are disguised blessings because that is when real personal growth occurs and having experienced difficulty makes the "good stuff" of life taste all the better!

Things are totally going to get better for you. And we all need to vent sometimes, so don't apologize! I wish you lived closer, I could get you a job at my company right away :(
