Is McCain Really a Commie Bastard?

The title of this post is really a nod to my BFF Donna, to whom everyone is a 'commie bastard' if they don't offer some sort of discount or perk for members of the military. Keep up the good work, sista! Today's required reading can be found here. It's a story I found online today, and I actually heard about it last night on the news. Just a few things of note, here. I have not heard of the 'similar' suit in Riverside, CA, but kudos to that lawyer. Kudos also, to Mr. "Live Free or Die State" for his suit, as well. If McCain wasn't born here, he can't be president. There should be no issue here, because the Constitution is pretty clear on this. "A term on which the Founding Fathers did not elaborate"...I don't think they needed to elaborate on this! Now here's something to ponder: What happens if McCain can't run for prez? Who will take the Republican nomination? Will we need a 'do-over' in every state? Will it default to Mitt?

I have to say I am with the McCain camp on this one. This is ridiculous as he was only born there because his parents were serving in the Armed Forces.

Well, I thank you for the most intellectually stimulating thought I've been confronted with today. As a student of politics I found this highly interesting.
The answer, which will become very apparent, very soon, is that the united states constitution only says that the President must be a natural born citizen, which a child born on a foreign land to two American citizens, and at least one of the parents lived in the United States prior to the birth.
SO... I guess John can run.
Thanks for sharing!

Read here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/28/us/politics/28mccain.html?pagewanted=print

McCain was born on a military installation in the canal area. If you follow a "what were the Framers thinking?" interpretation of the Constitution, you could say that they were afraid of some English colonist coming to the States and running for President. The Framers weren't afraid of children of US military, born on a base, running for office. Then again, the Framers were afraid of the "Church" as well and we all know how separate Church and State are these days... :) IMHO...

Speaking as a military brat, I find it appalling and quite un-American to question the citizenship (or 'type' thereof) of someone born outside the US borders because their parent(s) were militarily internationally posted at the time the child was born!!!
That just really chaps my hide.
