College Days

Well, my college days are now. Yes, I have my wild parties, and I know how to have fun, too. But I don't believe I'm the 'typical college student'. I just finished the final draft of my first paper. The title: Motorcycle Helmet Laws: The Great Debate. It's a subject I'm passionate about, so it should've been easy. However, throw in some APA formatting, in-text citations and references, and suddenly it's terrifying! I felt like I should've been wearing a helmet to write the damned paper! But at least I still can make that choice in Arizona! :) Hope I get an 'A'!

I hope you got an 'A' also. Passion for your subject is the most important thing, all that other stuff can be learned.

Don't forget to add the quirkiness that in Minnesota and I'm sure some other states that we have a mandatory seat belt law but no helmet law if over 18 Yrs old. Go figure!

Regardless of what comes out of your efforts, the most important thing is that you are making the effort. I'm sure the paper is stellar. Maybe you could post it!

If you love what you are writing about, it makes it so much easier to complete the assignment.

If you ever need help with proof-reading/formatting/editing, etc. give me a shout. I've spent many a year as a technical writer and actually enjoy formatting documents (as sick and crazy as that sounds).

LOL! I remember the first time they threw MLA and APA at me. I was like, WTF?? Do they make you submit your papers to turnitin.com? I had to.

I don't know how people made it through college before the age of the home computer! Imagine having to type out all that crap on a type-writer? Do they even make those things anymore? Research? Thank God for the Internet instead of hours and hours of thumbing through encyclopedias!

Good luck from one adult-learner to another. I know it's hard. Hopefully one day, we'll both make it through!

I have my personal opinions... I didn't wear one in California back before there was a helmet law, but did wear one when I was riding here. I don't normally though as a passenger. Hmmm maybe I'm just royally confused! Either way, it's a choice I would want to be able to make on my own (along with other things). I hope you got an A too!
