Our Weekend

We had a BACA event on Saturday night that wasn't a great turn-out but we still had a great time. On the way home, however, we ran into some issues. It was 2:00 a.m. and the master link broke. For those of you that are not bikers, this means we broke down. (More on this in another post.) A very nice cop pulled in behind us and offered his assistance. He gave me a ride to our house, and I called our good friend Mike. We got Mike's trailer and picked up Big D and Annabelle. By the time we got into bed it was 3:30 a.m. We had plans to be at Phoenix International Raceway at 12:30 on Sunday. Marlboro invited us to their Hot Laps promotional event to ride in the IROCs around the oval, and to ride in some Mustangs on the drift track. We waited almost 2 hours to get into the track, but it was well worth the wait. Friends of ours were there too, but they didn't make it in. They were offered $40 in gas cards and some Gatorade for their trouble, and told to come back on Wednesday. Even though we were dragging ass from being up til 3:30 a.m., we had a GREAT day! The cars were great, the food and the gifts, too. The whole promotion was for Marlboro Snus...it's a new product just released in the Phoenix market. It's 'Spitless Chewing Tobacco'. Yeah, sounds gross, but we got samples, so I'm willing to try it once. Anyway, here's my slideshow for the Hot Laps event. I apologize for the lack of music. Our computer crashed and we lost over 3,000 mp3 files....OUCH. Don't get me started...

Great pics! I wish I was there. Seeing people having fun in a place with blue skies and no snow...helps keep me sane.

Sorry about your 'puter. That was me a few months ago. It just can't suck enough. Under the circumstances, I'm amazed you posted anything at all.

Sucks about the bike. Good thing that cop pulled in behind you. I knew you'd have a BLAST! We got in within 10 minutes on Saturday. They said Sunday's are the big day and some people don't get a chance to go. Next time register on a Saturday and we'll go together! I posted a montage of our day and I may post one of the last time to compare. My myspace has all the pics from hot laps and monster jam. Talk to you soon!

Joker: Yeah, we actually were HOT in those nomex fire suits for the ride in the IROCs! It was close to 80° on Sunday! Yeah, we're still trying to recover our pics and music files...Big D has found a program, but now we have to buy it. :(

Shannon: No shit...we would have been walking if he didn't! THAT would have sucked!

Damn, that’s got to be fun getting out on the track!
My bikes with chains have two extra masters in the tool kits. Learned the hard way :(

Jen: Don't worry, I'm sure I'll hate it.

QB: You have no idea!

Baron's Life: I actually was NOT sober when the cop drove me home. Big D doesn't drink, so that wasn't an issue. But I was pretty wasted. :)

Paula: You said it!

Allen: Yes, that's where all the IROC's went, and it was really cool. No, the bike isn't fixed yet, but should be fixed by Saturday. Waiting on a part.

Diane: It was a blast!

Willy D: I didn't get the adrenaline rush that I expected from the oval track...I'm more of a drag racing gal. But the drift track kicked ass!

Having another master link wouldn't have made a difference that night. We need some sprocket or something (inside the case). It should be in on Friday.

I'll put up a new post when the bike is fixed. :)

Glad a nice cop found you guys. I have to say that when I read "HOT LAPS" I was thinking something completely different. ;)

I'm totally jealous! I would do that in a heart beat! Looks like you had fun. I love to go fast! Vrroooommm!

I hate to hear of the break down. That's a pisser for sure, but at least you had help on the spot.

Oh well, we get the bad with the good, heh? Thanks for sharing this most excellent adventure!
